Thinking about spring and want to get started sprouting seeds for your garden, well you are in luck!
If you are looking to swap, buy or learn about seeds and seed saving this is the event for you. It’s the time of the year when we’re all getting excited to plan our gardens and get seeds ready or ordered.

This year we have a special presentation from Dale Wilker of Old Blue Truck Farm on “Growing & Saving Heritage Seeds!”. Heritage seeds have been passed down for generations, grown for their high nutrient levels and other important individual qualities. Dale Wilker, a local farmer will share his heritage seed saving and growing stories, so you can benefit from using heritage seeds this summer in your garden and greenhouse!
As well Mateja, a local grower, will share her insights into seed development, selecting good quality seed growers and why buying non-GMO seeds is so important. Not only will there be plenty of seeds to swap but seed giveaways from specialty BC seed growers!

Bring your seeds ready to swap, in clearly labeled envelopes outlining:

• Type of Seed
• Variety
• Seed Company (if applicable)
• Year Saved or purchased
• Quantity of seeds in each package
• Where it was grown
• Growing tips

Please don’t bring any GMO seeds or seeds collected from hybrid plants, as it won’t grow true to type. Also, note that seeds remain viable for 2-4 years if kept in a cool, dry place, out of the light. Some seeds (onions, leeks, parsnips, celery, spinach) are only good for a year unless stored especially well.

No seeds to swap? No problem!
•There will be seeds to purchase and seed giveaways from specialty BC seed producers!

Plant swap:
•Bring your own seedlings, cutting or houseplants to sell or swap.

If you are an avid seed-savers and will be needing your own table please email us at info@groundswellnetwork.ca by Friday February 9th so we can set up a table.
