Straw bale planting
April 23 at 6:30 pm to 8:00 pm
$20.00 – $25.00
Enjoy a fresh veggie garden on a barren spot of land, in a ditch, or beside the patio.
There’s more than one way to plant a seed, even if you don’t have access to a good garden. Simply incorporate some straw bale gardening into the mix.
Join garden and greenhouse manager Stephanie Stevens and learn how to prepare and condition a straw bale to create a hot, composting middle that will create a cool garden addition and help build soil in the process.
Straw bale gardening is great for small spaces and a wonderful way to border an existing garden or bring flowering (or veggie) beauty to spot that has no viable soil to plant in.
As the bale breaks down after a season or two or use you can add it to your garden for a boost of mulchy goodness.
