Twinkle, Twinkle Little Starmaker!

Family Fun and Creativity: Make a twinkling star tree decoration for your home and make a 2nd to donate to the Garden of Lights Wishing Tree.

Time: 10 to 11:30 am

Location: Lions Hall – limit 15 families (1 adult/1 child), adults welcome on their own

Things to bring: bring an apron, old T shirt to cover your good clothes, your water bottle, your creative ideas and disposable surgical gloves if you don’t want paint on your hands.

First you will create your clay star, choose a slip colour, then use a graffito tool to design and carve your special message for the season.
NB. You will be able to pick up your fired stars a week later at the greenhouse.

Tickets: non-members: $35.00; Members: $30 (this pays for all materials for 2 stars) Note: if you wish to do more stars they will be available and you can purchase them at $10/each during the workshop.

A Rustic Holiday Wreath

Celebrate the Season with your own special touches…

Join friends and create a natural, fragrant, and recyclable wreath of green bowers, burlap bows, pinecones, and berries.

You’ll make 2 wreathes – your first learning wreath to donate to Garden of Lights and your second perfection wreath to take home.

wreathYou don’t have to be crafty to do this well, come to have fun with friends while you sip hot apple cider!

Location: Lions Hall, Chamber of Commerce – Crossroads.

Things to bring: Water bottle, you may want rubber gloves to protect your hands from sap. Please bring Gardening pruners. Wear clothes that can get grubby. You may want to bring additional decorations or lights to add to the one you make to take home.

Note: No matter how many times you do a workshop at the Old Blue Truck Farm you always learn something new and important to improve your own garden.

Things to Bring: Dress in layers, garden gloves, comfortable shoes for standing, be prepared to get a little dirty if it is a little muddy.

Do you have a garden brimming with fresh vegetables, or a fridge full of produce just past its prime? Join Thea West for this workshop as she shares her steps to make easy, healthy and tasty soups using ingredients grown in our very own gardens, or hiding out in our fridges.

We will make Ukrainian Borscht (Beet Soup) and/or Tomato Basil Soup.

During this fun workshop we will also touch on topics such as making your own stock, tips and hacks for prepping your ingredients, and canning or freezing your soup. Plus how to turn your soup into a hardy dinner for the whole family.

  • Location: David Thompson Secondary School, learning kitchen to the left of the main school door.
  • Tickets: $30 members, $35.00 non members

Things to bring: water bottle, clothes that can take some splatters or an apron for protection, rubber gloves for peeling beets, bring a 1 litre container or jar to take some home. You will be given the recipes to take home.

She discovered her love of cooking as a young girl when she learned the basics helping her mother prepare healthy meals for the family. Over the years she cultivated her skills with inspiration drawn from her collection of cookbooks and food programs on TV.
