Hiring Event Coordinator (Contract)

Groundswell Network Society — Invermere, BC
Project-based, paid per event

About Groundswell
We’re a community-rooted non-profit growing food, skills, and connection in the Columbia Valley. From our greenhouse to our permaculture gardens and seasonal gatherings, everything we do is about helping people reconnect — with the land, with food, and with each other.

The Role
We’re looking for someone who loves bringing people together and creating meaningful, well-run community experiences.
As our Event Coordinator, you’ll take the lead (and support where needed) in planning and delivering Groundswell’s seasonal events — from early ideas through to the day-ofexperience.
This is a flexible, contract role with compensation provided per event, based on scope and complexity. Timing will shift with the seasons and event calendar.

What You’ll Do

  • Support planning and coordination of Groundswell’s annual events (Plant Sale, Solstice gatherings, Harvest Fest, etc.)
  • Help shape event flow, logistics, and timelines so everything runs smoothly
  • Coordinate vendors, volunteers, facilitators, and community partners
  • Create events that feel inclusive, welcoming, and well-organized
  • Be present on event days to support delivery and troubleshoot as needed
  • Collaborate with Communications to ensure events are well promoted
  • Support setup, flow of activities, and takedown
  • Gather feedback to improve future events

You Might Be a Great Fit If You

  • Have experience in event planning or coordination
  • Are organized and calm under pressure
  • Can balance big-picture thinking with attention to detail
  • Communicate clearly and work well with diverse groups
  • Enjoy community-focused, grassroots environments
  • Care about sustainability, food, and community connection

Bonus points if you’ve worked in non-profits or similar spaces before.

Compensation

This is a contract, project-based role. Compensation is provided per event as a flat fee, based on scope, complexity, and available budget. Work is seasonal and aligned with Groundswell’s programming.
