Time Is Working Out! Think About These 10 Methods To change Your Drum Corps International
The history there didn’t help our focus, but did motivate us to do better, and helped to ease us into the vibe that we would find in the stadium. It must be far away from the actual stadium (so those on field are not disturbed), but close enough so that audience members may come and see the groups warm up. They know how to see and hear mistakes, and they can see past any gimmicks that may be put on field. It took a lot of extra effort to project so far up and out, and I feel that because it was so far away, some of the smaller visual details in a lot of shows may have been missed by the audience. What really struck me when I performed on this field was how far the field was from the audience. We were being evaluated from the very beginning by people who were in our same position as far back as 50 years ago. It was near the end of our tour stop, being the last time all 23 World Class corps would meet at one venue before heading to Finals in Indianapolis. There were a lot of sound tricks in the venue, due to it being a fortress of concrete.
After auditions in November and Drum Corps Videos December (depending on which corps you want to be in), there are spring training camps for one or two weekend every month, where members stay over, live and rehearse with the corps. These are mostly people who have marched at one time, Drum Corps Videos or have thrust themselves into the activity in more ways than observing. At the time, I said both Troopers and Suncoast Sound were both America’s Corps that year, but Troopers were Reagan’s corps, while Suncoast Sound was Mondales. Last year, I was thinking, “anyone, anyone, Bueller, anyone?” Last year, nothing. However, fans loved it: according to an article on Drum Corps Videos Corps International, Allentown was perfect for fans wanting an inside glimpse; as columnist Michael Boo wrote, “You can smell the diesel fumes and see exactly how the members dine off their food trucks, and you can walk down the street after the shows and thank the members for their energy and performances. Mr. Spitzer has been called upon to start up a marching band program and University of North Carolina- Pembroke since they are going be fielding a football team for the first time since 1952. As I write this I have no idea when and where this band will be performing yet, but if you do happen to see them I can tell you what you can look forward to.
When we arrived and unloaded, the first thing I noticed was the hustle and bustle around the area. When we arrived there for our early evening warm-up slot, the area was not quite what I had expected, but it was incredible all the same. It was so tightly packed that not even 100 feet away from us, there was another hornline warming up. For those who perceive America as one of extreme excess, “American Variations” responded with, “Yeah, what about it? And while we’re at it, here’s even more of the more, more and MORE!” Pushing home the unabashedly patriotic theme were red coats, white pants and blue sashes on the brass and percussionists and red and white stripes inside the blue color guard dresses, just in case the red, white and blue flags didn’t quite convey the message. 9:10- Remember my hint to color guard directors about black spandex? The warm up area must also be able to accommodate several corps at once, as well as the buses, equipment, semi-trucks, and food trucks that transport the corps on tour. We are not the venue box office, or the official DCI – Drum Corps Videos Corps International fan site. To date, all DCI corps have canceled their in-person weekend rehearsal camps for the balance of March and are in the process of canceling for the month of April as well, adhering to current guidance regarding non-essential travel and avoiding social gatherings in groups of more than 10 people from the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), the National Institute of Health (NIH), and the White House.
New for 2021 will be a corps-designated Safety Manager for each participating organization, who will serve as the primary point of contact on all matters of health and safety between the corps and the DCI headquarters during the various phases of the abbreviated summer season. Through the annual DCI Tour and more than 40 World Championships in 17 North American cities, Drum Corps International provides entertainment to millions through live performances and nationally-televised events. Finally, around June, tour starts. Guided by a Tour Reopening Task Force of medical professionals and other experienced leaders both inside and outside of the marching arts, participating ensembles have been presented with information and options for their consideration regarding 2021 activities. Oftentimes, a venue will have a great field and stadium, but will force the corps into a less-than-ideal warm up zone. The bleachers are concrete, and span all around the field. The field itself is a very short turf (according to the author of the Marching Arenas blog, this is a vast improvement, as the field used to be uneven and choppy).
